One of London’s most legendary dancefloors and sound systems is ready to take on a new life. In a collaboration with electronic music institution Ministry of Sound – ‘The Box’ has been reimagined, redesigned and renewed, immortalising the room as the legacy brand enters a new visual and technological era. The redesign sees The Box wholly transformed, as a cutting-edge club space unfolds within the existing confines of the infamous and revered room – complete with a state of the art overhead AV installation and an all new video, lighting and sound design.

Installation, video and lighting elements span the length of the room in an all-encompassing overhead visual display resulting in total sensory immersion. A vast, multi-layered, precision engineered installation acts as the focal point/ centrepiece of The Box – a new icon and emblem for the space which will define this new era. The complex, large-scale installation, designed and fabricated by Lucid Creates, houses a nexus of multi-layered reflective, metal framework referencing and in a nod to the club’s grittier, industrial spirit but with a renewed and refined tech-driven feel -ensuring the redesign still captures the essence of this legendary space whilst bringing it into a new age of pioneering production, with an iconic visual to match. Its depth and detail produce an entrancing visual experience for the audience below as its reflective surfaces respond to light, producing constantly changing visual effects and dynamic motion above the DJ and the audience.

The intricate lattice of metalwork houses both video elements and Lucid’s LED bar product creating a striking, clean and effortless visual as they frame the floating set piece architecturally. Both the integrated video screen and LED breathe life into the installation as light and video content dance through its countless contours – experimenting with depth and perception in a hypnotic display that activates the space above the dancefloor. The hovering, multi-dimensional installation, is defined not by mass but by negative space, depth, engineering and linear precision. Its illuminated edges trace the defined outline of the centrepiece – its architectural and industrial form emphasised by linearity, rhythm and proportion.
